Hey folks! We’ve got a slightly shorter-than-usual playlist this week. But where it lacks in length, it makes up for in focus. Like a lot of us, Minnesota and the plight of America under the Trump regime have been weighing heavily on me this week in the wake of ICE’s cold-blooded murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. I don’t intend for this site to be focused solely on politics, but this goes beyond policy at this point. Good, honest people were murdered by shit-stinking, cowardly bullies, and the world is far worse off for it.
It’s times like these when music can be a comfort to all of us, when artists flex their creative muscles in support of the oppressed, spurring us all on. You’ll find plenty of that on this week’s playlist; from classic punk rock courtesy of Dead Kennedys to brand new music from NOFX (They came out of retirement for this track!!) and an absolutely gut-wrenching new song by Bruce Springsteen.
The world might be on fire right now, but we’ll make it through. In that I have faith. To the folks in the US, especially those in Minnesota, and especially those in Minneapolis, I weep with you and mourn with you, but I also stand with you in opposition to the jackbooted, browncoated, dollar-store stormtroopers currently stomping around your home like a belligerently drunk partycrasher, and I stand with ALL Americans in opposition of their leader, the small, cowardly, petty little pig of a man that he is.
Fuck Trump, Fuck ICE, Fuck Fascism. Justice for Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and all those who’ve been victimized by this regime. Stay Strong, Minnesota.
